Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement, which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ. What started out as an invitation from the Archbishops’ of Canterbury and York in 2016 to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.

St Nic's is delighted to be working closely with St Michael's and Trinity in this initiative, but many other churches are also taking part offering a variety of prayer opportunities throughout the eleven days. You are warmly invited to join with us to experience different styles of prayer in different settings as we pray together for our community and our world.

Some of the activites in Abingdon are listed in this brochure, but please check individual church websites for latest details.

A booklet giving a daily scripture reading, some suggestions to consider from the reading, and prayers is available to download here.

You may wish to also use the prayer below, written especially for this initiative of ‘Thy Kingdom Come’,

Almighty God,
your ascended Son has sent us into the world
to preach the good news of your kingdom:
inspire us with your Spirit and fill
our hearts with the fire of your love,
that all who hear your Word may be drawn to you,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

May this dedicated time of united, common prayer, prepare us to be filled with the power of the Spirit at Pentecost.
